Awhile ago, my friends and I decided that we would do a west coast road trip, and that it would have to be done in a week.
I didn't realize how ambitious that task would be until I was in the middle of the trip. We drove for almost 8 hours or more every single day (except one), and slept on hard floors.
Don't get me wrong. I had an awesome time, and am glad that we were so productive. We did something amazing EVERY single day. We seized the moment, and never wasted any time.
We started the trip by camping in the Redwood forest. Let me tell you, it's the most beautiful place I've ever went to. I know that I haven't seen a lot of places, but that forest seriously made my heart sing. It was just so lush and green. It's something that you definitely do not see in southern California.
The campground was FREEZING cold, but I was still madly in love. There was a river close to our campsite, and the forest rangers were amazing nice. We went to presentations and nature tours. I really want to be a ranger now. I think it would be a pretty sweet job. :)
The next part of the trip was to go hiking in the sand dunes, seeing the world's largest sea lion cave, and seeing the most photographed lighthouse. Florence, Oregon is the perfect small town.
Before we even got to Florence, we traveled through Eureka. Eureka was a strange place. We asked them where we should have lunch, and they basically told us to go to the next town. When we told the cashier that we would be camping in the Redwoods, she informed us that it was illegal to camp there. Ummm... yeah... It all ended up well because we did go to the next town, and found some amazing food. Plus amazing homemade ice cream.
Florence was a sweet little town with so much nature and the most beautiful coast I ever seen. You can see the forest, the cliffs, and then the ocean. They only thing they lack is a place to watch the world cup. It was important that we find a place that showed the game because it happened to be the USA vs. Ghana game. Let's not even mention the results. My heart is still in too much pain.
